Pita Pizza !

O.K. they’re really flatbreads by Toufayan but I use them as pitas when needed. This is very kid friendly, easy to do and family fun creating your own pita pizza. I keep these around for the quick after work dinner when I don’t feel like cooking – they cook in 15 – 20 minutes. My Roasted Broccoli Pesto smeared and topped with mozzarella is really good on these flatbreads. The best part is the base of this , the bread, sauce and cheese come in at $6.18 ! That leaves 6 bucks to let your imagination run wild for toppings of your choice. Pepperoni, Broccoli, Spinach, Mexican – black bean and salsa, whatever you want to do – get creative.

  • 1 package of Toufayan whole wheat flatbreads – 6 in a pack. . .                                                           COST = $2.49
  • 1 jar of Publix garden style, Meat, Mushroom etc. sauce . . .                                                                COST =$1.79
  • 1- 8 .oz  package of shredded mozzarella – 2 for $4 special sometimes . . .                                      Cost = $2.90

Now that leaves $6.00 for toppings. Preheat oven to 400. On a flatbread spoon some sauce on the flatbread, not to much and top with cheese , add your toppings. Since the flatbread is already cooked we are just really melting the cheese and toasting the flatbread some. I hope you like it – have fun !

FREAKING AWESOME! I got all organic and snuck in a little sweet potato puree and my four year old ate an entire large sized pita pizza. my totally was 3.48 per serving and with buying all organic that’s freaking awesome! it took me 2 minutes to put together and 12 minutes in the oven!
